Which filters change each estimate?

Remove one filter. Keep every other filter the same.

Exact details are available for one group.

We show filter effects only for a group with an exact point estimate. The other group stays marked as limited until its result supports an exact estimate.

Here is what goes into your estimate.

Census records include age, income, education, and marital status. Separate national health surveys help us estimate height, body mass index, and cigarette use. The result does not count active daters.

01

Age, income, education, and marital status

The 2024 American Community Survey is a public Census survey. It records these traits together for each person in its sample. The calculator does not multiply separate national percentages. The men and women labels use the survey's sex field. They do not describe gender identity or sexual orientation.

02

Height

The calculator estimates height from measurements in the CDC's August 2021–August 2023 national health survey. It uses separate age and sex groups.

03

Body mass index (BMI)

This optional filter uses CDC estimates for body mass index (BMI) by age and sex. BMI is a clinical screening measure. It is not a measure of attractiveness.

KEEP IN MIND

No public source measures every filter together. Census data identifies states, not exact cities. These results estimate population groups. They do not show who is dating, who will be compatible, or your chance of a match.

What does this calculator show?

It estimates how many U.S. men or women fit the filters you choose. It uses population data. It does not count people on dating apps or measure attraction or compatibility.

Does it use the same filters for men and women?

Yes. It uses the same filters for both groups so you can compare the two estimates.

Does a smaller estimate mean my standards are wrong?

No. Your preferences are personal. The estimate only shows how common the selected filters are in a population group.

Does this measure what men or women expect?

No. Government data shows who is in the population. It does not show what people want. We need a separate study to learn about dating preferences.

Does 51% mean half of active Gen Z daters spend nothing?

No. The Bank of America and Ipsos survey covered Gen Z adults ages 18–29. It included the 45% who said they were single and not actively dating. The result shows reported monthly spending for the full sample.

of Gen Z reported spending $0 a month on romantic dates.

That is a spending answer, not a count of active daters. In the same survey, 45% were single and not actively dating.

These are survey answers, not bank records. Ipsos surveyed 1,133 U.S. Gen Z adults ages 18–29 online from February 10-28, 2026. The survey adjusted the results to better represent the nation. Use the same filters for your state.

Each report uses 2024 Census survey records for the state. Survey weights help the records represent people in that state. The Census uses the labels “men” and “women.” Height and BMI come from separate national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) health data. These reports do not count people who are actively dating or predict match odds.
