What this covers: It applies the same age, place, income, marital-status, height, and optional body mass index (BMI) filters to both groups in the source data. BMI is a height-and-weight measure.
What this does not show: A difference between the estimates does not measure anyone’s worth, dating standards, or compatibility.
Where the data comes from: The 2024 American Community Survey (ACS), a Census survey. Its Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) records show age, personal income, and marital status. Each record has a weight that helps it represent people in the full population. Height and body mass index (BMI) use measured data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Center for Health Statistics (CDC/NCHS). These traits are modeled, which means they are estimated from a separate data source.

A fair comparison needs the same filters
If one side uses income and height while the other uses age alone, the result says more about the setup than either group. The calculator applies every selected filter to both groups at the same time.
Less common does not mean more valuable
The smaller group is only less common under the selected rules. A count cannot measure kindness, emotional availability, relationship skills, or compatibility.
What drives the gap
The difference comes from the data, not from the tool. Income and height usually change it most. Age, marital status, BMI, and place can change it too. State pages change the starting group. Physical-trait estimates remain national because the public health tables are not state-specific.

Who has higher dating standards, men or women?
This page cannot answer that question for everyone. It compares how uncommon the standards you enter are when the same rules are used for both groups. A representative survey of preferences would be needed to measure what men and women generally expect.
Why do the two pools differ if the filters are identical?
Because the data is different for the two groups. Height, personal income, and marital status are not distributed the same way, so one rule can return very different shares.
Does the smaller pool mean that group is more desirable?
No. A size difference only shows how the two groups are distributed. It says nothing about worth. Population records cannot measure desirability.
