To delete your Hinge account, sign in, tap your photo icon, open Account Settings with the gear icon, scroll to Delete Account, and follow the confirmation prompts. Before you confirm, request any data you want to keep and check your subscription's billing provider. Removing the app from your phone does not close the account.

Choose the result you need before closing the account
A break from new introductions and the end of an account lead to different results. Hinge's Pause control stops your profile from being shown to new people. You can still chat with existing matches and switch Pause off later. A Like you sent before pausing can still reach someone and become a match. Pause also leaves a paid subscription running. If you want to return to the same matches, it is the reversible choice. The Hinge Pause guide explains that control in detail.
Account deletion is the permanent route Hinge describes. Its deletion help says photos, chat history, and member interactions are deleted under its privacy policy. Do not use deletion as a short break if those conversations matter to you. Hinge does not offer an Undo step in the published deletion procedure. The privacy policy governs what records Hinge may retain; the help page does not establish the removal time for every stored record.
The table below separates four decisions that can occur together: whether the profile stays visible, whether a payment renews, whether you keep a copy of data, and whether the account closes. Choose every row that applies to your goal. A person who wants to leave a paid account and save information may need three actions before the final deletion prompt.
Which Hinge control fits your goal?
The table may be wider than the screen. Focus it and use the arrow keys to reach every column.
| Goal | Control | Result or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Hide from new people and keep existing chats | Pause in Account Settings | Reversible; prior Likes can still become matches; billing continues |
| Stop renewal from Apple or Google Play | Cancel in the billing store | Deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription |
| Keep your own account information | Download My Data before deletion | Export is usually ready within 30 days and remains available for 48 hours |
| Close the profile | Delete Account in Hinge | Permanent account action; direct Hinge payment is canceled and remaining benefits are lost |
How to use it First identify your goal and billing provider. For a store-billed account with wanted data, request the export, cancel in the store, then delete the Hinge account.

If you want a copy of your information, start with Hinge's privacy-request instructions while the account is open. Sign in, tap the photo icon, open Account Settings, and select Download My Data. Select your country, select Download My Data again, confirm your email address, then submit. Hinge says exports are typically ready within 30 days, though size and request volume can extend the wait. Submitting the request is a first step; it is not the same as having a saved file.
Hinge says it will notify you when the export is ready. The download remains available for 48 hours, and you must submit a new request if that window expires. The export excludes personal information about other members. Keep the download somewhere private because it may contain your own personal information. Check that you can open what you need before you close the account; an expected file is less useful than a saved, readable one.
After deletion, the in-app Download My Data control is no longer available. Hinge says a former member can contact Support and choose a Privacy Request for access or download. That route does not promise that every item can be recovered. If a chat matters, keep in mind that the published export rules protect the other person's data. Do not assume the export contains both sides of a conversation or that a new account will restore old matches.
Check who bills Hinge+ or HingeX
Find the purchase receipt or the subscription entry before deleting. Hinge's subscription instructions distinguish Apple App Store, Google Play, and direct Hinge payment powered by Stripe. The payment source determines which cancellation control works. Hinge says subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the next billing period. If that time is close, check the billing result with the payment provider rather than assuming a button stopped a charge already in progress.
For an Apple purchase, open your Apple subscription page, select Hinge, and choose Cancel Subscription. For Google Play, open its subscription page, select Hinge, and follow Cancel Subscription. Deleting the account or removing the app does not cancel either store-billed subscription. The separate Hinge subscription guide gives the full store paths and payment distinctions. Keep the cancellation confirmation where you can find it, then check the displayed renewal or expiration date.
Direct Hinge payment has a different consequence. Hinge says deleting the account immediately cancels a subscription purchased through Hinge payment, and any remaining benefits for that term are lost. If you make a new account during the old term, those benefits cannot be restored to the new account. If you want to stop renewal and keep the remaining access, open Account Settings, choose Cancel Subscription, follow the prompts, and keep the account open until you are ready to lose those benefits. A refund is a separate decision; account deletion alone does not establish that you qualify for one.
Delete the intended account in the app
Once you have the information and billing result you need, sign in to the Hinge account you intend to close. Hinge's current procedure has five steps: tap the photo icon at the far right of the navigation bar, tap the gear icon for Account Settings, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete Account, and follow the prompts to confirm. Read the final prompt before completing the permanent action. These are Hinge's documented app controls, not a test performed on your account.
Check which account is signed in before confirming. A payment receipt and a profile may use different email addresses, so do not treat the email on one receipt as proof that you opened the intended profile. Hinge's help points to the signed-in app for deletion. It does not give a matching web-menu procedure. If you cannot sign in, or you already removed the app and cannot complete the steps, Hinge directs you to its Support team. Tell Support which account you need help with through its official request route.
Uninstalling the app removes it from your phone, but Hinge says that action does not close the account. Likewise, signing out is not the deletion procedure. Follow the final confirmation in Account Settings before you consider the account closed. If the app shows an error or gives no clear result, check the account or ask Support instead of repeating the action without knowing what happened. A subscription must also be checked through the correct billing provider.
A case with data and an Apple subscription
Consider a hypothetical reader who has HingeX billed by Apple and wants a copy of their own data before leaving. They begin in Hinge Account Settings and submit Download My Data. They wait for Hinge's notification, download the export during its 48-hour availability period, and check that the file contains what they wanted. They then open Apple's subscription page, select Hinge, cancel renewal at least 24 hours before the listed next billing period, and keep the store confirmation. Finally, they return to the correct Hinge profile and complete Delete Account.
The order protects two separate goals. If this reader deletes first, the in-app export control disappears while an Apple-billed plan can continue renewing. If the export takes longer than expected, they can cancel the Apple subscription now and delay account deletion until they have the data. If they decide they only need time away, they can use Pause instead and keep their matches. Pause still requires a separate cancellation if they want payments to stop.
Change the billing step when the purchase was through Google Play or direct Hinge payment. A Google Play subscriber cancels in Google Play before deletion. A direct-payment subscriber should decide whether to keep remaining paid access: Hinge says deletion cancels that plan immediately and ends those benefits. None of these example steps establishes the result for a private account. The reader must check the export, cancellation, and final account prompt in the services they actually use.
If the account is already gone or the steps fail
If you removed only the phone app, reinstall it, sign in, and use the account's Delete Account control. If the profile was deleted, use Hinge's Support route for a later privacy request; the in-app download is unavailable after closure. State what information you seek, but do not assume a closed account can be reopened or that a prior chat can be restored. Hinge's published deletion page does not promise either result.
If a store still shows Hinge+ or HingeX as active after deletion, manage that subscription in Apple or Google Play. Check the next billing date and the cancellation confirmation. For a direct Hinge payment problem, use Hinge Support and retain the purchase record. A refund request has its own rules and process; the Hinge refund help explains where to send it for each payment route.
The practical check is simple: confirm the account action in Hinge, confirm renewal status with the service that charged you, and save any data before you lose the in-app request control. Those are separate records. If one is unclear, use the linked official help for that specific issue before taking another permanent action.
