Hinge’s Pause setting hides your profile from new discovery while keeping existing chats available. Earlier Likes can still become matches, and a paid subscription keeps running. Those limits matter if your goal is a complete break.

Turn Pause on or off
Open your profile, open Settings with the gear icon, and enable Pause. To return, disable that switch or use Unpause Profile in Discover. Hinge documents these steps in its Pause help page.
Check that Pause is enabled before you leave Settings. Existing chats and subscription billing are separate from this discovery setting.
Why a match can arrive after pausing
Someone who received your Like before the pause can still accept it. That later match is consistent with Hinge’s documented behavior. Top Photo can also continue testing and reordering photos while the account is paused.
Imagine you send a Like on Monday and pause on Tuesday. A response afterward would not, by itself, prove that Pause failed. The help page does not provide a precise delay for every account, so we cannot promise one.
Make a separate decision about billing

Deleting an account is a larger step. Hinge says uninstalling the app leaves the account in place. Account deletion handles content under its retention policy, and direct-payment and app-store subscriptions have different cancellation rules. Review those rules before choosing deletion.
Choose the amount of distance you need
A break can mean fewer new introductions, less time in chat, or closing the account. Write down which of those you want before changing settings. A clear goal makes it easier to check whether the change did what you intended.
