THE POOL INDEX / ACS 2024

Compare dating-pool estimates by state.

Set filters once. Compare the share of men and women in each state who meet them. Census data covers age, income, education, and marital status. CDC data estimates height, BMI, and cigarette use. These are not counts of active daters or match odds.

STATE COMPARISON / EXACT RANKS NOT SHOWN

Rows are shown from larger to smaller estimated shares. Exact rank numbers are withheld because Census survey uncertainty is not included. Small differences may not be meaningful.

ALL STATES

Every state. Compare both estimates.

We compare the estimated share of men and women who meet these filters. This does not measure gender balance or dating success. The combined view uses both estimated shares. Technical detail: it uses the geometric mean. Swipe or scroll to see every column.

HOW TO READ THE ESTIMATES

How the comparison works.

A larger state can have a smaller share. We compare the share of the selected age group that meets the filters, for men and for women.

We combine the men’s and women’s shares for one overall view. This does not measure gender balance or say one state is better for dating. We do not show exact ranks because survey uncertainty is not included and small differences may not matter. Technical detail: we use the geometric mean.
