Tinder Passport lets you choose a different city for discovery before you go there. It is available as a separate purchase or through Plus, Gold, and Platinum, and you can select one city at a time.

For a trip, start with a city and a realistic visit date, and settle both before buying access. If you only want to meet people near home, your distance settings are the first place to look.
How to change your location
With Passport access:
- Open Tinder and select your profile.
- Open Settings.
- Select Location.
- Add a location by searching for a city or placing a map pin.
Check that you picked the city you meant, especially when several places share a name. Choose a location that matches where you plan to spend time, and skip distant areas you are unlikely to visit.
You can change cities as often as you want. People you liked in the previous location may see your profile for up to 24 hours after you switch. Passport location controls and timing
For a trip with several stops, choose the place you want to focus on now. If profiles from the earlier city keep appearing, a note of when you changed it gives you context before you treat that as an error.
Passport or a wider distance setting?
Passport changes the city you are using for discovery, while Maximum Distance controls your distance preference.
The table may be wider than the screen. Focus it and use the arrow keys to reach every column.

Tinder says it may show some profiles outside your set range, and its help page points to the toggle below the distance slider to control those exceptions. Other people may also use Passport to browse your area. Tinder's explanation of far-away profiles
Wanting to see nearby suburbs, for example, is a different task from planning a visit across the country. The distance control handles the first, and Passport handles the second.
Someone appearing in your discovery feed does not establish that they are physically nearby. Before talking about meeting, ask where each of you will be and when.
Do you need Gold or Platinum?
No, you do not need either. Plus includes Passport, and Tinder also lists a separate purchase option. Gold and Platinum add other features, and neither is required just for Passport access. Current Passport access options
Look at your existing plan first, because if it already includes the feature, you may not need a new purchase. If you are starting without a plan, compare the actual offers shown in your account.
Write down these details before paying:
- The full charge today.
- How long access lasts.
- Whether it renews.
- What the next charge will be, if listed.
- Which other features you would actually use.
Imagine one offer costs $12 for a short period and another costs $30 for a longer period. If you only need access for the short period, the larger offer may not be the better value for you. These numbers are our own illustration and do not reflect current Tinder prices.

Make travel dates clear
Write a short, accurate location note in your profile or early in a conversation, and say that you are visiting if you do not live there.
Here are examples we wrote for different situations:
- A booked trip: “Visiting Chicago September 20 to 24. I would like to meet for coffee while I am there.”
- A planned move: “Moving to Chicago in October. I still live in Boston for now.”
- No fixed trip: “Based in Boston. I am interested in visiting Chicago, but I have not booked dates.”
Use only details that are true for you. A possible move and a confirmed visit tell the other person different things, and if your dates change, update the note and let anyone you discussed plans with know.
You can name a public area or a general part of town without sharing your hotel, home address, or exact daily schedule. Share only what the other person needs to decide whether meeting is practical.
For a city in another time zone, include the local time when arranging a call or date. When you are in different places, “Friday at 7, Chicago time” is clearer than “tomorrow evening.”
Why might Face Check appear?
Some Passport destinations require Face Check, which uses a video selfie and facial data to help check the account. The requirement varies by region and platform. Tinder's Face Check explanation
Read the notice before starting, because a face scan involves more than a normal profile photo. Tinder says it retains verification data for continuing checks, even though it does not keep the original video selfie.
If the capture fails, Tinder suggests checking the light, keeping your whole face in the frame, and removing anything that blocks it. You can exit the capture and try again. Never use another person's photo or video.
If you would rather not complete the required check, pause before paying for access to that destination. Settling that question first keeps you from buying a feature you may choose not to use.
What to check if Passport does not work
Begin with the symptom you are seeing and the heading below that matches it, and hold off on changing several settings at once.
You paid, but the app does not recognize access
Check your purchase receipt and current account. For supported purchases, Tinder provides Restore Purchases in Settings, and for website, PayPal, or direct Android-card purchases, its instructions use a restore token from the confirmation email. Use the path that matches your purchase, and keep the receipt and any restore token private. If restoration fails, save the error and use the support link in the guide before buying again.
You see profiles from the wrong area
Check the selected location, when you last changed it, and the distance-range toggle, since Tinder documents some overlap after changing cities. If the settings still seem wrong, its help page suggests signing out and back in, so confirm that you can reach your sign-in method first. Location troubleshooting
The feature works, but conversations do not lead to plans
Look at what you have told people about your dates and location. Ask whether they want to meet during that period before getting into detailed plans, and if your trip is uncertain, say so.
A clear travel note and a workable schedule are both within your control. Buying a larger plan is a separate decision, and none of these troubleshooting steps calls for it.
