To delete Tinder, sign in, open your profile, open Settings, and select Delete Account. Removing the app does not delete your account or cancel a subscription, so save the data you want and handle billing before you delete.

The first choice is whether you want to close the account or take a break, and it's worth settling that before you reach a deletion prompt. You do not need to remove an account just to stop using the app for a week.
Choose the action that fits your goal

Each action solves a different problem, and you may need more than one. Someone leaving a paid account, for example, may want to cancel renewal, save data, close the account, and then uninstall the app.
Someone taking a short break may only need to hide the profile and review renewal. Decide on the outcome first, then follow the steps that go with it.
1. Download any data you want to keep
Before closing the account:
- Open Tinder's Manage My Account tool.
- Sign in and select Download My Information.
- Enter an email address and submit the request.
- Wait for the email with your download link.
- Download and open the file before deleting the account.
Tinder says the email should arrive within a few days, so check your spam folder too. The download is a ZIP file: extract it and open index.html in a browser if that file is included. Tinder's data-download instructions
Open the file and check that the information you wanted is really there, because a submitted request only becomes a saved copy once you have downloaded it. Store the download somewhere private, since it may contain messages and account details, and avoid uploading the whole file to a public forum to ask a question about it.
Once you delete the account, the download tool stops working for you. You can still ask Tinder for any data it keeps through the privacy request route in that guide. What is available varies, and requesting it does not restore the account.
2. Cancel a paid subscription
Use the receipt to find the billing provider. Tinder marks Apple order numbers with MK, Google Play orders with GPA, and certain direct purchases with TNDR.

Save the cancellation result before closing the account, and write down the end date if one is shown. If you cannot find the plan, check the original billing account before assuming there is nothing to cancel.
Switching from an iPhone to an Android phone, for example, tells you nothing about who owns the old subscription, so the receipt is still the place to start. Keep payment troubleshooting separate from the deletion attempt.
3. Delete in the app or on the web
In the Tinder app or on Tinder.com:
- Sign in to the account you want to close.
- Open your profile.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to Delete Account.
- Complete the deletion prompts.

Before the final confirmation, make sure this is the account you meant to close. If you use more than one email address or sign-in method, a familiar profile photo cannot tell you which account holds the billing. Keep your login information and purchase receipt nearby until the process is finished.
Read any prompt about hiding or pausing carefully. If closing the account is what you want, finish the deletion action instead of stopping at an offer to hide it.
What if you cannot sign in or deletion fails?
If the app fails, try the documented website or account-tool route. It gives you another way to attempt the same account task without creating a new profile.
If you cannot get into the account at all, use Tinder support. Say whether the problem is signing in or completing deletion after you have signed in, because each one needs different help.
Prepare a short description:
- Which device or browser you used.
- Whether you could sign in.
- The last step you completed.
- The exact error message.
- When you tried.
For example: “I can sign in on the website. After I choose Delete Account and confirm, I see this error.” Then add the actual message, which gives support far more to work with than saying the app does not work.
Keep passwords, verification codes, and full card details out of support messages, and crop unrelated private content from screenshots. If billing is also active, carry on with the provider's cancellation process while the account issue is being resolved.
What happens to matches, messages, and stored data?
After deletion, other users can no longer see your profile. Tinder describes a 90-day safety retention period for profile data, with later deletion following its privacy policy, so some records stay on file for a while after the account closes. Tinder's retention explanation
A limited restore feature may bring back basic details such as name, age, and gender if you sign up again within 90 days. Tinder's current deletion guide says this feature is being tested in select markets.

Treat deletion as a decision to lose the account's conversations. If you might want to return to those same chats later, take a break instead, and avoid counting on a restore window as a backup.
Hide the profile if you only want a break
Open Settings and turn off Enable Discovery. You can still view and message existing matches, and people you already liked may still see your profile and match with you. How to hide a Tinder profile
