If you have a Basic eharmony account with no unused virtual goods, sign in on the website, open Data & Settings, and select the permanent deletion link under Profile Status. Enter your login password on the next page to confirm. If your Premium subscription is active or your Basic account has unused virtual goods, contact Customer Care or use eharmony's data-deletion request. Check renewal with the company that billed you before closing the profile.

Choose the result you want
Deleting an eharmony profile is permanent. According to eharmony's deletion help, you lose access to its messages and matches, and the profile cannot be restored. Hiding the profile serves a different need: it removes you from other members' Matches lists while leaving the account in place. If you expect to return, check the hide control first. If you want to leave, identify your membership and any payment before choosing the final deletion link.
A hidden profile still has a visibility limit. Eharmony says people you already contacted or who saved you as a favorite may still see it. Its visibility instructions say to open Data & Settings, then switch off Profile Visibility. The home page shows a banner when the profile is hidden. That setting does not say anything about a subscription charge, so a break from matching may also need a separate renewal decision.
Check profile visibility, Premium membership, payment renewal, and any data you want to keep. The table maps each goal to its control. If you want privacy now and deletion later, you can hide the profile first, then work through payment and data access. You still need the permanent account action when you are ready to close it.
Which eharmony control fits your goal?
The table may be wider than the screen. Focus it and use the arrow keys to reach every column.
| Goal | Control | Documented result or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Take a break | Switch off Profile Visibility in Data & Settings | Reversible; earlier contacts and favorites may still see the profile |
| Stop a renewal | Cancel through eharmony, Apple, or Google, based on the receipt | Check the biller's status; current-term installments may remain due |
| Keep a data copy | Use eharmony's signed-in data request or Customer Care form | Identity check and privacy limits may affect what you receive |
| Close an eligible Basic profile | With no unused virtual goods, use the website's permanent link under Profile Status | Permanent loss of account access, messages, and matches |
| Close during Premium | Contact eharmony Customer Care to begin deletion | Support handles the request; check renewal separately |
How to use it Find your membership and biller first. Complete any data request and renewal action, then use the deletion path for your account state.

Download the table (CSV) ↓Check your membership and who billed you
Sign in to the eharmony account you intend to close and open the menu next to your photo. Choose Data & Settings. Eharmony's membership-status help says this page shows the Premium term length, purchase date, and how to turn off automatic renewal. Read those details before deleting anything. A paid plan still in its term changes the deletion path, even when you have stopped using the app.
Look at the original purchase receipt as well. Eharmony's U.S. terms distinguish purchases made directly from purchases billed by Apple or Google. For a direct Premium purchase, the terms direct members to Data & Settings, Manage profile, Amend Subscription, and the cancellation link. For an Apple or Google purchase, the terms direct you to that store account. Check the final renewal status with the biller that appears on your receipt.
Timing and payment structure matter. Eharmony's terms say automatic renewal must be canceled at least 24 hours before the current term ends. Under the general direct-purchase rule, canceling renewal ends Premium access at the term's end and does not refund unused days. If you agreed to installments, the same terms say ordinary cancellation does not erase the remaining contractual payments. Applicable rights and purchase terms can change that result. If you think a special cancellation right applies, read the current terms for your state and contact the biller promptly.
For an Apple-billed membership, Apple's current instructions place subscriptions under iPhone Settings, your name, and Subscriptions. Select eharmony and follow the cancellation prompts; then inspect the status in that Apple Account. For Google-billed membership, Google Play's instructions use the subscriptions page for the Google Account that bought the plan. Select eharmony, cancel, and check the displayed status. If no plan appears, check the receipt for another account or billing provider before assuming renewal is off.
Ask for data you want while you can sign in
Eharmony says you cannot access matches or messages after profile deletion. If a record matters to you, decide what you need before confirming the final step. Its privacy policy describes a data-access request through a signed-in request page or the Customer Care form. Name the specific personal information you seek. Eharmony may verify your identity and may limit access to information that affects another person's privacy, so a request does not guarantee a complete conversation copy.
A data-access request asks eharmony for a copy of personal information it can provide. A data-deletion request asks it to remove information under the privacy process, subject to applicable exceptions. The privacy policy says some data may remain for fraud prevention, bookkeeping, legal duties, or an unfulfilled service request. An empty profile therefore cannot prove that every stored record has already been erased.
Keep the request inside eharmony's official signed-in or Customer Care path. The privacy policy says identity verification can require account details, but you should follow the secure form's instructions rather than send your login password in an ordinary email. If the copy has not arrived and you still need it, hide the profile while you wait. Once the request is complete, inspect the result before you remove access to the account.
Delete an eligible Basic account on the website
Eharmony's deletion help gives a self-service website path for an account without a subscription. Its privacy policy narrows self-service data deletion to Basic members without unused virtual goods. The deletion FAQ puts the link under Profile Status; the privacy policy calls the section Profile Visibility. If the link is absent, use Customer Care. The privacy policy says Basic self-service deletion is available on the website, not in the apps.
- Sign in to the intended account on eharmony's website.
- Open the arrow next to your photo and select Data & Settings.
- Under Profile Status, select the link in "To permanently delete your profile, click here."
- On the next page, read the final choice and enter your login password to confirm.
The deletion help says the password field appears on the confirmation page. Check that you are in the right account and that you no longer need its messages or matches before entering it. Eharmony describes the result as permanent and says the profile cannot be restored. The help page does not document a separate email receipt or a universal time for every retained data record to disappear, so record the result shown in your account and use Customer Care if it remains unclear.
Ask Customer Care to delete an active Premium account
If you are in the middle of a subscription, eharmony's deletion help tells you to use its Contact Customer Care button to begin the deletion process. The linked Customer Care page provides the official contact route. State which account you want closed and that you want permanent profile deletion. Ask how the request affects access during the remaining term, then keep the reply or case reference. The public help does not promise that pressing Contact Customer Care instantly deletes an account.
Check renewal separately, especially if Apple or Google handled the purchase. Eharmony's terms send store-billed cancellation to the store account, and its deletion help does not say that a profile request stops a store charge. If eharmony billed you directly, complete its renewal path and check the updated status in Data & Settings. If you have installments, review the amount still due under your agreement. A deletion request is not proof that a payment obligation ended.
If you cannot sign in, use the official Customer Care route and explain the access problem along with the account you need help closing. Do not create a second account just to reach a menu in the first. The privacy policy says eharmony verifies identity for access and deletion requests. Supply details only through the company's secure process and keep the request reference. If the answer concerns a refund or a special cancellation right, ask the biller to explain that result for your own purchase.
Picture two account states
Imagine a Basic member who wants to leave and has no unused virtual goods. They first decide whether they need any messages or account information. If so, they submit a data-access request while signed in and wait for the response. They then use the website's Data & Settings page, select the permanent link under Profile Status, and enter their login password on the confirmation page. If they only want a break, they switch off Profile Visibility instead and keep the account.
Now imagine a Premium member who pays eharmony directly in installments. They look up the purchase and term in Data & Settings, then follow the direct-purchase cancellation link to stop a future renewal. They keep the status result. Because the current subscription is still active, they use Customer Care to request profile deletion. Eharmony's general terms say stopping renewal does not remove scheduled installments for the current contract. That member checks the actual agreement and eharmony's answer before deciding that billing is finished.
The example is hypothetical; it does not predict either member's private account result. A member billed by Apple or Google uses that store's subscription controls instead of the direct-purchase path. A member with unused virtual goods may need Customer Care even without an active Premium plan. The decision table shows why the first step is to identify the account state rather than follow one deletion script for everyone.
Check the result without losing the record
After you submit a deletion action or request, keep the final screen, support case number, and any billing-status confirmation that applies. Do not save another member's private information just to document your own action. If the profile still appears active or Customer Care has not confirmed a Premium request, follow up through the same official case. A hidden profile and a canceled renewal can each look like an exit from the service while leaving the account in place.
If the immediate concern is visibility, hide the profile while the account question is resolved. Eharmony says earlier contacts and favorites can still see a hidden profile, so use that setting with its stated limit. If the concern is a charge, check the biller's renewal status and your term rather than using profile visibility as a signal. If the concern is information you want to keep, complete the access request before permanent deletion. Each result has its own control and its own evidence.
