The 50th percentile is the middle height. At the 75th percentile, about three-quarters of the reference group are that height or shorter.

How the tool works

Who is included
The national survey covers U.S. adults age 20 and older outside institutions. The male and female categories follow the source. Survey weights adjust the sample to represent the population.

Where does a 6-foot man fall?
At 72 inches, he falls between the 75th-percentile point of 70.9 inches and the 85th-percentile point of 72.1 inches.
Can I use this for a child or teen?
No. This is an adult reference, not a child growth chart.
